The Advantages of being bilingual
Between 60 and 75% of the world's population is bilingual, and being monolingual is therefore in the minority.
As well as the obvious advantages of inheriting the language and it's culture, and the ability to communicate naturally with the family in Wales, there are several advantages to being bilingual and a lot of research has been done
to support this. They include educational, social and cultural advantages. The TWF organisation, which supports families in raising their chidren with more than one language, summarise the advantages as follows:
